“Alligator House” is a low-cost house designed by Buildingstudio the Los Angeles architects as a home for refugees from post-Katrina.
The name is indicative of the shape, especially the facade, which looks like an open mouth of an imaginary crocodile.
The idea was to provide a housing type consistent with the needs of the city spaces detached, more developed in length and width.
The exterior is covered with insulated panels of translucent white plastic, illuminated from within, to provide indirect lighting outside. The limited budget did not stop to coat the interior with wood and ceramic tile.
