With a sketch style drawing of the Carl Fisher Estate, where the entrance is located on the side of the house; this residence is almost identical, except for the pool, which was run in parallel position rather than lateral. The aerodynamic style of the house, with an exterior that literally seems to float in the air, has clean lines and elegant with minimal finishing, fine materials and arched architectural elements. High ceilings and open spaces add a sense of spaciousness to this property of 1.858m2, with nine rooms (including two in the service area) and guest cabana independently located on the side of the pool.
At the entrance, a concrete spiral staircase greets guests with a small tank for saltwater fish, a concept inspired by the wishing well located at the foot of the stairs of the Americana Hotel, designed by Morris Lapidus, which Glaser first saw when he was child. The granite floor, flowing in the grand room of 38 meters, which incorporates the living area and dining area. In this environment, large windows form a spacious wall overlooking Biscayne Bay “The room is large, but intimate feel,” says Lewis, who has worked with Glaser on several projects, including the former residence of singer Cher, La Gorce Circle. “Todd and Touzet designed the residence in order to create a home ultra modern, with a touch of the Upper West Side.”
Comfortable furniture and elegant decorating the living room, where red floral embroidered cushions and bright red linen add a touch of color in the room decorated with shades of white palette. Two lamps with marble base and pleated fabric, provide soft lighting, while a trio of wall mirrors are aligned and reflect a beautiful panorama. The rich textures of the synthetic leather with crocodile pattern and ostrich are combined with modern versions of favorite beach houses and to the sisal rug chocolate brown. “The fabrics used are unique, playful and fun,” says Glaser.
The dining area, next to a marble wall, chocolate-brown, was decorated with a dining table of solid wood South American built by Glaser himself. The white faux leather chairs complement the table the whole is accentuated by a wide black armchair. A few steps away, the kitchen is the head, which Glaser created along with Lewis, incorporating styles used in professional restaurants. The dark cabinets with chrome accents depict a modern version of Old New York and blue quartz countertops, with details of shell nacre add an element of ocean.
Planted like a pedestal, a guest cabana of 12 x 27 meters acts as a decorative stitch on the outside of the residence. It is reminiscent of the building “Bacardi Building” which is on a side street off Biscayne Boulevard. The pool is 24 meters accompanies the extension of the residence, with a private beach on the side. The beach was inspired by the Mandarin Oriental hotel visited every year by Glaser and his wife Kim when they want to have a special time away from four children: Levi, Chloe, Stone and Coral.
