“THE ROCK” is a housing located at the José Ignacio tip, a small fishing creek, 80 km. North of Punta del Este, on the Atlantic.
The terrain has a double slope in the longitudinal and transverse, terminating in a rock formation and the destruction of the foundations of an ancient building, where it forms a natural garden of succulents.
The program, which had to include a master volume for social life and one for the rooms, was solved in two boxes at the same height, which generate two patios in the gaps left by these boxes between them, or under them.
On the volume of rooms is located the master bedroom with panoramic views of the environment.
The Rock is definitely a sequence of almost square space in which you are entering from the most public to the most intimate, crossing terraces, patios, outdoor spaces, intermediate and interior, and reached the most private of all that is the master bedroom.
The ceilings of both boxes are more succulent gardens aimed at improving the thermal quality while integrating architecture with the existing landscape.
The exposed concrete materiality and Lapacho wood, thinking that emerge from the rock two feet flat on volumes and integrate the site as being as radical as the landscape itself.
