The Glass House by Werner Sobek
The glass house, designed and built by the German architect Werner Sobek, and currently inhabited by him and his family, is a four-storey building completely recyclable, emission-free and self-sufficient in energy needs. The electricity needed is produced by solar panels, and the whole system is controlled via telephone or computer from anywhere, in anticipation of the house home automation applications. The sun’s heat is absorbed by the panels filled with water on the ceiling and turned into heat.
In addition, the house is compleat transparent, built with triple glass panels of high quality, highly reflective to protect privacy, but allowing a breathtaking view also the location of the house in the hills. Perfect communion between man and nature around.
