Glen Irani Architects have sent us the second of their Hover House series in Venice, California.

“Hovering” volume on the landscape to eliminate the typical continuity between the front and garden areas of post and should occur in an outdoor constructed middle of garden space feel larger measured. Blanketing the roof is formed to conduct pronounced gradient, reflected light clerestory while seemingly floating slowly and protectively over the spaces inside.

Hover House 2

Description from :

The second of the Series Room Hover aims to solve the isolation of front yards on lots of yards after the apparently small urban building universal across the entire fa lot. By massing the first level along the side lot line lot more than the front, essentially target the entire depth of the lot to outer space, House 2 Hover successfully changes this rule.

The Hover Chamber concept proposes that resource intensive internal spaces can be replaced by the equivalent of dressing like outer and amenities. But living abroad is not always what, AOS cracked up to be, even in temperate climate of Los Angeles. Comfort and protection is essential for survival outside. Whereas, Äúhovering, AU bulk refined over living area outdoors, protection from the elements given while supporting continuity between the front and garden areas following.

Take advantage of deep lots allow 4,000 SF, 4 bed program inside to fit comfortably on two levels rather than following the model of some taller and more resource-intensive homes. Given the height of lower and resulting issues of privacy, the roof was designed as a form, Äúshrouded clerestory, AU, gently folding down over the clerestory space to carry subdued sunlight reflected from horizontal space between the roof and exterior walls while floating slowly over the spaces inside.

Sustainability remains at the forefront of the architect, AOS senses as it has for more than two decades. PVC cool roof technology, high efficiency mechanical systems, window shade, sustainable wood finish and structural products and minimization of long-term gloss and maintenance are only several steps in this project employs to achieve architecture, sustainability standards high AOS. Finally, if man is to carry out a sustainable future, reducing building resource use resulting from reduced internal program could prove a better tactic and that can happen if more clients adopt in areas 01:01 outdoor living as replacements for current program standards inside.
