Hillside Home Renovation Nakahouse by XTEN Architecture

Nakahouse is a residence in front of the Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles, California, which became one of the projects assigned to XTEN Architecture to restore and modify the home of the sixties that had been demolished by creating lots of open space facing the exterior and coated the interior with white.

The building is constructed from a series of terraces that are interconnected to take advantage of the geographical hillside terrain. The original foundations were not replaced because of the intricacies of space as well as for zoning in which it is established. Interior completely remodeled itself to take into consideration the views of the exterior that provides a unique landscape and adding a large terrace to the kitchen and dining room are joined with the room.

In addition, terrace also added to the and adjoining bedrooms to extend the same space with sliding windows that go from floor to ceiling, opening the interior to the exterior landscape of Griffith Park. The monochrome is present throughout the design giving the impression that the whole sculpture is attached to the hill where it is located.

An example of architecture that is mindful of the possibilities of the environment and the external view, fully exploited from the interior of the structure.
