China Comic and Animation Museum – MVRDV

The urban planning office of has announced the decision of the international competition for the . The group of Dutch architects MVRDV has successful won the contract. It will be located in the city of Hangzhou and will occupy 30,000 square meters. Work is scheduled to start in 2012 and a projected budget of 92 million euros. With a population of 6.4 million, Hangzhou is the capital of the animation industry in China.

The buildings consist of lobby, educational area, theater, cinema and library, among other things. One room is dedicated to the interactive experience that visitors can live where they can try all kinds of techniques like stop motion animation, drawing, creating emotions.

The intentions of museum are bringing entertainment to the public and make the world of comic and animation looks as an art. Therefore, the building will host expositions of large annual fairs, the China International Cartoon and Animation Festival (CICAF).
